YouTube screen tearing on Microsoft Edge (Credge) with AMD

By Pixelated Thinker — 10th March, 2020

This is an imported post of mine from an older blog for historical purposes.

After trying the new Microsoft (Chromium) Edge, I was having an annoying issue with screen tearing on videos played in it. While I could disable hardware acceleration to fix it - it's not ideal.

After doing a bit of searching I came accross this post here. It seems to be an issue with AMD cards. I'm not aware if it is just a handful or all AMD cards and the new Edge.

What fixed it for my AMD R7 360 (and for my reference for the future):

  1. Open AMD Radeon Software Center
  2. Add Edge as a game under the Gaming tab
  3. Disable Radeon Enhanced Sync
  4. Turn Wait for Vertical Refresh to Always on
